Fred Charlton serves as managing director and global chairman of energy & power investment banking at Piper Sandler. For the last 29 years, Charlton’s investment banking advisory practice has focused exclusively on the oilfield services and equipment sector. Prior to joining the firm in 1990, he worked in the Middle East as a field engineer for Schlumberger. Charlton serves on the investment committee of Simmons Private Equity, a Europe-focused energy private equity firm and the board of Making It Better, a nonprofit that delivers remedial reading intervention to kids up to third grade in Houston schools. Charlton holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Oxford University, where he was awarded an open scholarship and a Master of Business Administration degree from Harvard Business School.
