Michael McHugh Bio

Michael McHugh joined the firm in 2023 and brings with him over 27 years of experience in the media and communication industries. He has closed over 100 transactions worth over $3.5 billion as an investment banker and principal investor. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. McHugh was Head of the Media and Communications at B. Riley Securities for 7 years. In this role, he was responsible for leading the firm’s investment banking activities in media and communications industries. He was responsible for managing all aspects of a client’s engagement for M&A engagement as well as public stock offerings. Prior to joining B. Riley Securities, Mr. McHugh was the Head of the Media and Communications Group at Matrix Capital Markets and exclusively focused on M&A for middle-market companies. Mr. McHugh’s previous experience also includes leadership positions at Waller Capital, MCG Capital and GE Capital’s Media and Communications Group. Mr. McHugh has an MBA from Emory University where he graduated with honors, and a BSBA from the University of Richmond.
