Dick Shuma joined Prairie Capital Advisors in 2016 and is a shareholder in the firm. He is instrumental in developing Prairie’s ESOP sell-side and capital raise practice. For over 35 years, he has advised corporate clients on capitalization structures, value-enhancing business strategies and alternatives to efficiently realize the value that they have created. Throughout his career, Dick has represented both corporate and investment banking disciplines by leading and participating in a wide range of traditional and leveraged financings, strategic advisory engagements, buy and sell-side merger and acquisition (M&A) engagements and various other capital raising engagements. For over a decade, he has focused his advisory work heavily on the employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) as a transition vehicle.Dick is a frequent speaker within the ESOP community and has been featured as a guest lecturer and panelist in the corporate finance, valuation and M&A disciplines at the University of Chicago, Northwestern University, DePaul University, The Loyola University Family Business Center, The Entrepreneurship Institute and many other related organizations. Dick also serves on the Executive Committee of the Illinois ESOP Chapter.
