Bio

James Baker is the global co-head of investment banking and capital markets, co-chair of the diversity & inclusion council and a member of the leadership team of Piper Sandler. Baker joined the firm in 2001, having served as co-head of energy & power investment banking at Piper Sandler, which during his tenure generated record banking revenues. Baker has advised on hundreds of successful M&A, strategic advisory and capital markets projects for public, private and private equity clients. Prior to joining Piper Sandler, Baker was a director and CFO at Koch Industries and led corporate finance and corporate development for Koch’s energy businesses. Subsequently, he was a director for Alton Geoscience, consulting to refining and marketing companies on the West Coast. Baker is a member of the advisory board of the Posse Foundation, Houston chapter. He holds a chemistry degree from Colorado College and earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas at Austin.
