John Baxter Bio

John Baxter is a Managing Director at Oberon Securities. His career and experience spans over 30 years in investment banking, strategy, and management consulting, and as a senior operating executive. Prior to joining Oberon, John was the founder and Managing Partner of LedgeRock Advisors. The firm counseled healthcare, technology, and real estate companies on M&A, capital raises, and restructurings. While at LedgeRock, John served as CEO of a NYC behavioral healthcare company and as Managing Director at Wharton Equity Partners, an alternative investment firm. Before LedgeRock, John was EVP and Director of the Equity Group at Wheat First Butcher Singer, a regional investment banking firm. Under his leadership, John shifted the focus of the Group from large- to middle-market companies. With 30 research analysts covering over 300 companies, the Equity Group led or co-managed 123 IPOs and advised on 70 M&A transactions. WFBS was sold to First Union Bank for over $480M. John also served as CEO at Whitehall Consulting Group. WCG designed and implemented the first CRM for the financial services sector. Clients included Jefferies & Co, William Blair & Co, Wheat First Butcher Singer, Inc, Chase Bank, UBS, and Barclays Bank. Whitehall had offices in New York and London. John attended Columbia University.
