Martin Pierre Roussel Bio

Martin-Pierre Roussel was appointed Executive Vice-President, Managing Director and Co-Head, Corporate & Investment Banking in November 2020, a position he holds jointly with David Skurka. In this capacity, he oversees all of the corporate banking activities offered to businesses, governments, investment funds and pension funds, including equity and debt underwriting, corporate lending and syndication, as well as mergers and acquisitions advisory services. Leading a team of over 200 professionals based in Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, Vancouver and New York, Martin-Pierre Roussel is responsible for implementing and executing Financial Markets’ strategy to deliver integrated solutions for the firms’ corporate clients. Mr. Roussel joined the Bank in 2018 as Managing Director and Head of Corporate & Investment Banking, Quebec. His extensive industry knowledge and track record in executing numerous transactions with Canadian and international clients, coupled with his client-centric approach are closely aligned with Financial Market’s culture of providing trusted advice to our clients. Over the past 23 years, Martin-Pierre Roussel has held several senior positions, most recently as the senior executive of a fast-growing consumer products company, where he was responsible for the company’s North American operations and strategic growth. Prior to this entrepreneurial role, he worked at firms such as Rothschild, Lazard, Scotia Capital and KPMG, where he focussed on cross-border M&A, restructurings and capital raising advisory. Mr. Roussel serves on the board of directors of various charitable organizations and supports numerous community initiatives. Mr. Roussel has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from HEC Montréal and has also completed an Executive Development Program at the Wharton University of Pennsylvania.
