David Skurka Bio

David Skurka is Executive Vice-President, Managing Director and Co-Head of Corporate & Investment Banking, a position he holds jointly with Martin-Pierre Roussel. In this role, Mr. Skurka is jointly responsible for the Investment Banking, Credit Capital Markets, and the Loan Structuring & Syndication teams providing financing, structuring and M&A advisory services to corporations, financial sponsors, pension funds and governments across North America. Prior to joining National Bank in 2019, Mr. Skurka was Deputy Chair, Investment Banking at TD Securities and prior to that, he was the Head of Global Investment Banking at Scotiabank Global Banking & Markets including oversight of the M&A and Equity Capital Markets groups. With over 20 years of financial markets experience, Mr. Skurka has a deep background in advisory and structuring having worked on some of the largest and most complex transactions in Canadian history across a wide range of sectors. Mr. Skurka started his career specializing in M&A within the Corporate Development department of a large global financial institution. He is involved in a number of charitable activities including various capacities with the United Way of Toronto & York Region, the Greater Toronto YMCA and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Toronto. Mr. Skurka holds a Bachelor (Honours) in Economics and Political Science from McMaster University (summa cum laude) and an M.B.A. from the Joseph L. Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto. Mr. Skurka has also completed an Executive Management training course at the Fuqua School of Management at Duke University.
