Bio

Don has over 35 years of hands-on experience in the health insurance and managed care industries. His experience ranges from senior management roles in a Fortune 6 company, to managing a $1.75 billion premium equivalent insurance administrator, to providing Big 4 consulting services to progressive managed care and health insurance companies. His areas of focus are mergers and acquisitions, strategy development, operations and technology innovation, and business development. Prior to joining MidCap Advisors, Don was a senior vice president with United Healthcare (UHC). Additionally, he served as senior executive vice president of POMCO, leading the sale of POMCO to UHC. During his time at POMCO, he served in various functional leadership positions, including Chief Operating Officer. Don also operated a consulting practice where he worked in various roles, including: CIO for a managed care health plan; Ernst & Young Management Consulting, as a senior manager advising numerous managed care clients; and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, as Consulting Director, National and Major Business division. Don is a graduate of Clarkson University with both his MS in Industrial Management and his BS in Marketing and Management, with Law. He served on the Board of Directors for HM Insurance Group, United Concordia Insurance Company and Syracuse City School District Educational Foundation. He currently serves on the United Way of Central New York and CNY Works.
