Bio

Michael Parillo is a director in the Firm’s Financial Accounting and Advisory (FAAS) services practice. He has more than 10 years of experience in financial reporting and analysis, SOX compliance, process improvement, and technical accounting. His experience includes providing services to large and middle market, muti-national public and private companies primarily within the financial services industry including life insurance, property and casualty insurance, corporate asset management, and private equity funds. Michael also supported clients with SOX implementation and compliance, adoption of new accounting pronouncements, and preparation of various SEC filings and statutory compliance reporting in conjunction with period-end reporting requirements. He has served clients in several interim roles providing continuity and integrity for daily accounting, finance, and business operations. He also supported clients with complex mergers and acquisitions in many ways including buy-side and sell-side support, day one accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and other post integration matters. Michael has experience performing research and analysis to facilitate resolution of complex technical accounting and financial reporting issues including investments, actuarial reserves, reinsurance, revenue recognition, goodwill, and stock compensation under US GAAP and IFRS. Michael earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from the University of Connecticut and he is a Certified Public Accountant licensed by the State of Connecticut. Prior to joining Marcum, Michael served as a Director at a (“Big 4”) accounting firm. He served as an auditor to a variety of public and private clients and was responsible for executing all phases of the audit engagement procedures, including planning, internal controls testing, substantive procedures, evaluation of financial statement and related footnote disclosures (SEC & Statutory) to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations.
