Bio

Philippe Lavertu is Chief Financial Officer at Marathon Capital based in Chicago. He leads the firm’s strategic financial planning, financial reporting, capital raising, corporate development, and risk management. He is also involved with oversight of the firm’s corporate functions and subsidiaries. Philippe first joined Marathon Capital as an investment banker responsible for executing M&A and capital raise transactions in the renewable energy space. He led the development and implementation of the investment banking development program and the firm’s expanding technology infrastructure and systems. He later moved into the roles of Vice President of Business Development and then Director of Operations, focusing on supporting the firm’s rapid growth and prioritizing efforts across organizational strategies, marketing, and recruitment. Most recently, Philippe was Chief Operating Officer, where he oversaw the firm’s daily operations and various functions including strategy, human resources, legal, compliance, risk management, finance, and accounting. His prior career experience includes positions in debt capital markets, commercial banking, investment banking, and private equity. Before pursuing his MBA, Philippe was a senior analyst with the Debt Capital Markets Group at National City Bank. He worked on over $3 billion in structured and syndicated debt transactions across numerous industries. Philippe graduated with honors from the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University with a BS in Business Administration and a major in Finance. He received his MBA with concentrations in Entrepreneurship and Finance from the UCLA Anderson School of Management. Philippe holds Series 24, 63, and 79 licenses
