Jason New Bio

Jason New is a Managing Director in the Restructuring & Liability Management Group and a Vice Chairman of Investment Banking. Prior to joining Lazard, Jason was the co-founder of NovaWulf Management and previously served as the Chief Executive Officer of Onex Credit Partners, a $25 billion alternative credit manager which is wholly-owned by Onex Corporation. Prior to joining Onex, Jason spent 15 years at Blackstone, where he was a Senior Managing Director and Global Co-Head of Distressed and Special Situation Investing for GSO Capital Partners (“GSO”, n/k/a Blackstone Credit). Jason was an original partner of GSO and a member of the firm’s Management and Investment Committees. Jason was the Senior Portfolio Manager on several GSO funds and separately managed accounts. Before joining GSO in 2005, Jason was a senior member of the Distressed Group at Credit Suisse and Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette. Jason started his career as an attorney at Sidley Austin. Jason has originated numerous transactions and invested billions of capital in the public and private debt, structured credit and public and private equity markets. Jason has served on the boards of over a dozen public and private companies including Cheniere Energy, Momentive Performance Materials, Sorenson Communication, and Eastman Kodak. Jason has been a frequent speaker on many aspects of the credit and distressed markets. Jason has been actively involved in many of the largest Chapter 11s in history. Jason has led distressed and restructuring transactions in the U.K., Europe and Latin America. Jason holds a B.A. from Allegheny College and a J.D. from Duke University, where he is a member of the Board of Visitors.
