Andrew Torgove is Co-Head of the Capital Solutions & Restructuring group and the Chief Operating Officer at Lazard Middle Market. He joined the firm in 2006 to head the middle market restructuring practice and became Chief Operating Officer in 2018. He has more than 25 years of experience advising companies in the execution of restructuring transactions, both in and out-of-court, including M&A transactions, financings, exchange offers and plans of reorganization. Recent engagements include representing Horsehead Holding Corp., Nuverra Environmental Solutions, Standard Register, Associated Wholesalers Inc., Allen’s, American Safety Razor, Chem Rx Corporation, and the Unsecured Creditors Committee of Global Geophysical Services. Other assignments include representation of Bowe, Bell & Howell, Bruegger’s Bagels, Cagle’s Farms, Carey International, Christensen Farms, Dura Automotive, Heartland Automotive Industries, Jillian’s Restaurants, Meridian Automotive, Morris Publishing, Plainwell Paper, San Antonio Internacional, Tokheim Gas Pumps and Waterford Wedgwood. Prior to joining Lazard Middle Market, Mr. Torgove was a Managing Director at Stairway Capital, a $330 million fund focused on buying distressed middle market companies, with a focus on purchasing senior debt positions. From 1996 to 2004, Mr. Torgove worked at Houlihan Lokey Howard & Zukin and was Co-Head of the their Distressed M&A practice in New York from 2001-2004. Mr. Torgove received a Ph.D. in Economics from the New School for Social Research, a Master’s Degree in Economics from Boston College, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi honors societies.
