John McCarthy is a Managing Director with Kaufman & Company, and previously served in a similar capacity with the firm earlier in his career. Prior to rejoining Kaufman & Company in 2017, Mr. McCarthy spent over 25 years leading the transformational growth of numerous science and technology focused companies from early-stage organizations into successful commercial entities, both in private and public markets (including 3 IPOs). His track record includes successfully raising more than $1 billion across the broad capital markets, as well as developing, executing and managing numerous precedent-setting strategic corporate partnerships. Mr. McCarthy most recently served as CEO and Director of privately-held ZS Genetics, a developer of a unique 3rd generation DNA sequencing platform for the global life sciences industry. Prior to ZS Genetics, Mr. McCarthy served as CEO & Director of CryoXtract Instruments, a developer of unique automation products and solutions for the worldwide life sciences industry. Before CryoXtract Instruments, Mr. McCarthy was CEO & Director of Qteros, Inc., an emerging technology company in the alternative energy industry that partnered with some of the industry’s top global organizations. Mr. McCarthy also served in various executive positions at leading companies, including:Verenium Corporation, Exact Sciences Corporation, and Concentra Managed Care, Inc., as well as in the Investment Banking Group of Morgan Stanley. Mr. McCarthy currently serves as a founding Board member and investor in privately-held The Wanderlust Group (aka Dockwa, Inc.), a leading technology company in the marina and boating industry, and is a former Board member of publicly-traded InVivo Therapeutics (having served as Board Chairman and Audit Committee Chairman), InfoMedtrics, Signet Laboratories, and the Harvard Business School Alumni Association. Mr. McCarthy graduated with high honors from Lehigh University, received an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
