As Managing Director at Hovde Group, Jim Hemmer helps lead the firm’s investment banking coverage of Midwest depository institutions. A veteran investment banker with over 30 years of experience, Mr. Hemmer has advised on over 100 completed M&A transactions and over 50 public & private capital raises. Mr. Hemmer has spent his entire career focused on depository institutions and other financial services businesses primarily located in the Midwest. Prior to joining Hovde Group in August 2024, Mr. Hemmer was Managing Director at Stephens, where he advised on over 30 successfully completed transactions. Mr. Hemmer has previously held significant positions at Sterne Agee, Robert W. Baird & Co., Sandler O’Neill, and Lehman Brothers. Mr. Hemmer earned his B.A. from Dartmouth College in 1990 and an MBA in Finance and Management from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Business. He is licensed with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority and holds the following licenses: Series 7, 24 and 63.
