Greg graduated from Lamar University with a BBA in accounting and a minor in economics. From 1974 through 1979, he was President of a closely held, family-owned corporation, which was diversified in its business endeavors. In 1979, Greg joined the Houston office of Benson, Wells & Co., a regional CPA firm. In 1980 the Houston office withdrew and formed Shelby, Rucksdashel & Jones. Greg continued with the new firm. In 1984, Greg opened the Dallas office of Shelby, Rucksdashel & Jones as Partner-in-Charge. He continued as an Audit and Consulting Partner as well as Partner-in-Charge of the Dallas office until 1989. In 1990, he became the Shareholder in charge of Audit, Consulting, and Financial Reporting engagements for Chapman, Hext & Co., P.C. In 2006, Greg became the majority shareholder of the firm and assumed the role of CEO of the firm and its affiliated companies. In 2018, Greg became the sole shareholder. In 2021, the Firm rebranded as Hext Financial Group, LLC. The affiliate companies are Hext & Associates, P.C., Hext Capital Partners, LLC, and Hext Wealth Advisors, LLC. Greg is the CEO and sole shareholder of Hext Financial Group and its affiliate entities. Greg has had extensive experience in financial reporting, consulting, merger & acquisition, and debt and equity financings. He has assisted a variety of corporate and individual clients regarding issues related to the sale of companies, financial reporting issues, bank and equity financing, and a variety of other issues faced by corporate entities and its shareholders. Greg is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants, and various civic and religious organizations. He also holds a Series 7, 24, 63 and 79 securities licenses. Greg and his wife Kimberly live in Dallas. They have a son Preston who is completing his JD/MBA at SMU. Kimberly sits on the Board of a number of non-profits in Dallas.
