Akila is the chief operating officer of the Investment Banking Division of Goldman Sachs, Formerly she was the chief operating officer for the Global Financing Group and the head of Natural Resources Debt Capital Markets and Risk Management in the Investment Banking Division. In that role she had responsibility for the firm’s Natural Resources clients across both Investment Grade Capital Markets and Corporate Risk Management, helping them raise new capital and optimize their overall capital structure with respect to interest rates and currencies. Throughout her career she has advised on numerous complex acquisition financings, brought important Debt IPOs (Initial Public Offerings) to the market, and mitigated interest rate and foreign currency risk for some of the firm’s most important clients, with particular focus on hedging risk associated with mergers/acquisitions and debt issuance. Akila earned an AB in Politics and a Certificate in Finance from Princeton University.
