Bio

Deniz Akgul is a Managing Director in the Restructuring and Debt Advisory group and has over 16 years of experience in restructurings, corporate finance, capital markets and private financings. He has advised, executed and invested in transactions across a range of industries and has significant experience in financing structures involving corporate bonds, leveraged loans, asset-based financings, securitisations (CLOs, CMBS, WBS), derivatives and credit default swaps. His experience includes advising and working with board of directors, management teams, shareholders and creditor groups in consensual and non-consensual situations. Deniz was a founding member of Gleacher Shacklock’s restructuring group and prior to that was also a founding member of Houlihan Lokey’s restructuring practice in London. Previously, he was responsible for distressed debt and event-driven investments as part of the broader European credit book at BlueCrest Capital and Brevan Howard; Deniz began his career in M&A at Credit Suisse. He received a MSc. in Finance and Economics from the London School of Economics. Selected transaction experience includes a number of high profile restructuring and special situations including Norske Skog, Rome Airport, Nobina, eircom, Four Seasons Healthcare, Northern Offshore, Concordia Bus, Euro Disney, Waterford Wedgwood and Punch Taverns.
