Martin Falkner is one of the founding partners of Gleacher Shacklock and is a member of its Management Committee. He runs the firm’s Utilities & Infrastructure business. Previously Co-Head of Merrill Lynch's European Energy & Power team, for over 20 years Martin has focused on providing strategic, financial and M&A advice to major companies and investors in the European transport, utility, waste and infrastructure sectors. He has broad experience of UK public transactions and has advised on some of the leading transactions in the sector, including the acquisition of Signature Plc by a consortium of long term investors, the non-GIP shareholders on the sale of Gatwick, the sale of Associated British Ports, IFM on its investment in Manchester Airports Group and simultaneous acquisition of Stansted airport, PSP on its acquisition of a controlling interest in Angel Trains, and the acquisition of Porterbrook Leasing by a consortium of institutional and infrastructure investors. Other recent clients have included Centrica, National Grid, Scottish and Southern Energy, Singapore Power, Thames Water, Yorkshire Water, and a variety of infrastructure funds and institutional investors. Prior to joining Merrill Lynch, Martin worked for BZW, latterly as global head of the firm’s utilities practise. He graduated with an MA in Physics from Oxford University.
