Bio

Michael is a Managing Director at Foros, advising companies across industries and has worked extensively with clients in the consumer products, retail, manufacturing, business services and publishing industries over several decades in investment banking. Michael began his career at Goldman Sachs where he was a Partner of the firm in the Investment Banking Division and over time was responsible for the Corporate Finance Department in the U.S. South and Southwest Region and was co-head of Investment Banking, Latin America. He then joined GSC Partners, a credit-based alternative and mezzanine lending platform. Prior to joining Foros, Michael was a Vice Chairman, Investment Banking at JP Morgan for 13 years, advising companies across sectors on critical strategic and capital markets issues. While at JP Morgan, he established the industry’s leading family office investment banking practice advising on M&A and investment transactions. Over his career, Michael has advised on a large number of multi-billion-dollar M&A and capital markets transactions. Michael served on the Board of Directors of Willams-Sonoma for 15 years. Michael resides in New York City with his wife Susan Baker. He is a member of the Board of Trustees at The Clark Art Institute in Williamstown, Mass and serves as the Board Chair of Glyndebourne America, which supports the work of Glyndebourne, a premier summer opera festival in East Sussex, England. Michael also serves on the Board of Directors of East Side House Settlement, a major social services agency in New York City, and as Co-Chair of The Winter Show, the annual art, antiques, and design show that supports East Side House. Michael is a Trustee Emeritus of Rice University. Michael earned a double major in Chemical Engineering and Behavioral Science from Rice University and an M.B.A. (first in class honors) from the University of Texas at Austin.
