As a director at Fairmount Partners, Jonathan Smith leads the firm’s industrial and consumer products (including niche manufacturing, food and beverage, value-added distribution and industrial services) practice. For more than 18 years, Jonathan has focused on providing a combination of merger and acquisition (buy-side and sell-side), private placement (growth capital, equity recapitalizations and debt refinancings), and general financial advisory services, primarily to entrepreneurial and closely held companies. He has been a key member of deal teams that have executed 80+ transactions, representing more than $3 billion in aggregate value. Jonathan joined Fairmount Partners in April 2005 as an associate, later becoming a vice president at the firm in 2006 and a director in 2017. Prior to joining Fairmount, he was an associate (2001-2005) at Brentwood Capital Advisors, a boutique investment bank focused on raising institutional capital (private equity, subordinated debt, and senior debt), principally for healthcare services companies. Before working for Brentwood Capital, he was a financial analyst (2000-2001) at Robert W. Baird & Co., a global investment bank with concentrated efforts on manufacturing and industrial technology sell-side M&A and public equity offerings. Jonathan Smith received his B.B.A., magna cum laude, in Finance from Loyola University Maryland. He is also a member of Philadelphia’s Alumni Board of Directors for Loyola University Maryland. Jonathan is registered with FINRA and is Series 7-, 63- and 79-licensed.
