Bio

Takeshi Inoue is a senior managing director and president of the firm’s Japan office. He is focused on Evercore’s investment banking effort in Japan. Over the course of his 25-year investment banking career, Mr. Inoue has advised on many notable M&A and capital market transactions, including the divestiture of Works Applications’ HR business to Bain Capital, the sale by Bank Danamon (Indonesian subsidiary of MUFG) of its insurance business to Zurich, the initial public offering of Japan Post Group, and the investment in BTPN (Indonesian bank) by Sumitomo. He has also led numerous high-profile activist defense advisory assignments, including Sony against Third Point, Olympus against foreign shareholders, and Sapporo Holdings against Steel Partners. Mr. Inoue joined from Barclays Japan, where he was a managing director and head of the financial institutions group, and most recently head of the activist defense team in Japan. Prior to Barclays, he was vice chairman of the investment banking division and head of the M&A group at Citigroup Japan. Earlier in his career, he worked for the Ministry of Finance. Mr. Inoue holds a B.A. in law from the University of Tokyo and an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.
