Stuart Britton is a Senior Managing Director of Evercore’s Financial Institutions Group and is based in New York. Mr. Britton was a co-founder, Partner and Managing Director of Lexicon Partners, the corporate finance advisory business which was acquired by Evercore in 2011. He led Lexicon’s Financial Institutions Group in New York and had overall responsibility for Lexicon’s New York office, having relocated from London to lead the establishment of Lexicon’s US business in 2008. Prior to founding Lexicon in 2000, Mr. Britton worked at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, where he specialized in mergers & acquisitions in the financial institutions sector. Previously, he worked at The Phoenix Partnership, a corporate advisory and private equity business which was acquired by DLJ in 1997 and, prior to that, spent his early career at PriceWaterhouse Coopers in the Taxation and Legal Services Group. Mr. Britton has over 15 years of experience in advising financial institutions on M&A and corporate finance. He has advised on a wide range of M&A and capital markets transactions across a number of sectors within the wider financial services market, with a particular focus on insurance distribution and underwriting. Some of his transactions include advising RenaissanceRe on the sale of its US insurance operations to QBE, Marsh & McLennan / Guy Carpenter on a number of transactions including the acquisitons of Collins and Rattner Mackenzie and the disposals of RSL and ETMC, The Hartford on the sale of its First State excess and surplus lines business to Beazley, Berkshire Hathaway on the sale of its Marlborough Lloyd’s operations to Flagstone Re, Towergate on a number of acquisitons, refinancings and capital raisings including the investments by Och-Ziff and Reservoir Capital, Lumley on the sale of its Australian and New Zealand businesses to Wesfarmers, Aspen Re on its formation and capital raising and Irish Permanent on its merger with Irish Life. He has a degree in Law (B.C.L) from University College Cork, Ireland.
