Bio

Ollie Clayton is a Senior Managing Director and Co-Head of Evercore’s European Financial Institutions Group, based in London. Mr. Clayton has advised on a broad range of transactions in the financial services industry including in the asset and wealth management, banking, life assurance, brokerage / exchange and fintech sectors. Prior to Evercore, Mr. Clayton was a Managing Director of Lexicon Partners which he joined in 2000. Prior to Lexicon Partners, Mr. Clayton worked in the financial institutions group at Schroders and Citigroup. Selected transactions on which Mr. Clayton has advised include M&G on its demerger from Prudential plc, the merger of Tilney and Smith & Williamson, Provident Financial on its successful defence against the hostile takeover by Non-Standard Finance, Lloyds Banking Group on the creation of its wealth management JV with Schroders, the sale of Intelliflo to Invesco, the acquisition by AIA of CBA’s Australian and New Zealand life assurance businesses, Credit Suisse on its capital raisings, the sale of Towry to Tilney Bestinvest, the IPO of Old Mutual Asset Management and subsequent sale of a minority stake to HNA, the sale of Moneybarn to Provident Financial, the sale of Bestinvest to Permira, the sale of Cazenove Capital Management to Schroders, the sale of Cofunds to L&G, AIA on the acquisition of ING Malaysia, the sale of Old Mutual’s Nordic business to Skandia Liv, Prudential on the acquisition of SRLC America from Swiss Re, the sale of JO Hambro Capital Management to BT Investment Management, the merger of Chi-X Europe and BATS Global Markets, the IPO of Hargreaves Lansdown, ICAP on the acquisition of EBS and Prudential on its defence from Aviva. In the banking and building society sectors, in addition to advising leading global banks, Mr. Clayton has advised on a large number of specialty finance and building society transactions (including all the major mergers in the sector since 2010). Mr. Clayton has a first class degree in History from Cambridge University.
