Bio

Masuo Fukuda is a Senior Managing Director focused on Evercore’s advisory effort in Japan. Before joining Evercore, he was Co-Head of Investment Banking Group at Mizuho Securities. Mr. Fukuda was previously the Global Head of Mergers & Acquisitions at SMBC Nikko Securities Inc. Prior to this role, Mr. Fukuda was the Head of Investment Banking and was responsible for overseeing their investment banking activities as well as the integration of the investment banking team when SMBC Nikko started its operations in October 2009 as a member of the Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group. Prior to his roles at SMBC Nikko, Mr. Fukuda was the Head of Global Banking Division and a member of the Executive Committee at Nikko Citigroup Limited until the company’s de-merger in October 2009. Before his promotion to Head of Investment Banking Division (predecessor of Global Banking Division) in January 2006, Mr. Fukuda was Co-Head of Telecom, Media, and Technology Group within the Investment Banking Division. Mr. Fukuda has extensive experience in leading various capital markets transactions as well as providing strategic advice to corporate clients in the technology sector. Mr. Fukuda joined Nikko Salomon Smith Barney Limited (renamed Nikko Citigroup in April 2003), a joint venture between Citigroup and Nikko Cordial Securities, in March 1999. Prior to joining Nikko Salomon, he was Head of Equity Capital Markets at Nikko Europe Plc. He held various positions at Nikko in its New York, London, and Tokyo offices and has worked on numerous equity transactions with a broad range of international and Japanese corporate clients. Mr. Fukuda has a BA in Business Administration from Keio University and an MBA from the University of Rochester’s Simon Graduate School of Business Administration.
