James Lilly is a Managing Director of the firm’s corporate advisory business. Mr. Lilly focuses on advising companies in the information and media sectors. Mr. Lilly’s transaction experience includes advising: Edmunds on its minority stake sale to CarMax, J.D. Power on its sale to Thoma Bravo, Advance Publications on its acquisition of Turnitin, Astorg Asset Management on its acquisition of Anaqua, Hanley Wood on its sale to MidOcean Partners, Comcast on its acquisition of Sky plc, Gartner on the sale of its Talent Assessment business to Exponent, Vista Equity Partners on its acquisition of EAB, the Scripps Family on the sale of Scripps Networks Interactive to Discovery Communications, Trader Interactive on its sale to Eurazeo and Goldman Sachs, Gartner on its acquisition of CEB, Ancestry.com on its strategic investment from Silver Lake/GIC, Boats Group on its sale to Apax Partners, S&P Global on its acquisition of SNL Financial, Dealertrack Technologies on its sale to Cox Automotive, the E.W. Scripps Family on the merger of the broadcast operations of The E.W. Prior to joining Evercore in 2012, Mr. Lilly was a financing and sales associate at Cinetic Media, a provider of advisory services to the media and entertainment industries. Prior to Cinetic Media, Mr. Lilly worked in film distribution at IFC Films and Sony Pictures Classics.. Mr. Lilly received a B.A. from Wesleyan University, with honors, and an M.B.A from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
