Bio

Karan Kapoor is a managing director in Pagemill Partners, the technology division of Duff & Phelps, based in the Los Angeles office. He is focused on advising tech companies on mergers & acquisitions and raising capital. Karan rejoined the firm in 2019 after spending six years at other investment banking platforms including UBS, one of the largest global investment banks, and Stifel, a leading full-service middle market investment bank. At UBS, Karan was a senior member of the tech sector investment banking coverage team based out of San Francisco and prior to that he held a similar role at Stifel in their tech investment banking group (formerly Thomas Weisel Partners). Karan is a seasoned investment banker who has advised both emerging growth companies and established public and private technology companies. He has significant transaction experience across several sub-sectors of tech (software / Saas, Internet, and Digital media), and across diverse transaction types including sell-side and buy-side M&A, IPOs and private financings of equity and debt. Some of his former clients include Alibaba, Ancestry, Beatport, Care.com, Criteo, Despegar, Frontline Education, Glu Mobile, GoDaddy, HomeAway, Infogix, Kofax, King Digital, Neustar, Nuance, Officite, Qunar, Retailmenot, Snap, Trader Corp., Viator, and Zalando. Additionally, Karan has advised several leading Tech focused Private Equity firms including Apax, Golden Gate Capital, Insight Partners, KKR, Permira, SilverLake Partners, Summit, Spectrum Equity, TA Associates, TCV, Thoma Bravo, etc. on new platform investments or transactions for their portfolio companies. Karan earned his MBA from UCLA’s Anderson School of Management and his BBA from The University of Texas at Austin’s McCombs School of Business. He is a FINRA-registered General Securities Principal and possesses Series 7, 79, and 63 licenses.
