Alan Levin is a director in the Tax practice at Duff & Phelps and is based in Chicago. Alan has over twenty years of experience as a tax specialist, primarily in the areas of domestic tax due diligence, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), corporate income and non-income tax, tax controversy, tax planning and tax structuring. Alan has advised companies on tax due diligence and tax structuring in connection with evaluating tax risks associated with proposed M&A transactions, including stock, asset and hybrid transactions for C-corporations, S-corporations and partnerships. He has experience analyzing tax issues regarding federal and state income taxes, sales and use taxes, payroll taxes, property taxes and unclaimed property matters. Prior to joining Duff & Phelps, Alan was Tax Counsel at Walgreens, where he directed Walgreens’ M&A tax due diligence and tax structuring process related to acquisitions and reorganizations. He was also responsible for developing and implementing Walgreens’ overall tax strategy for minimizing federal and state income taxes and directing Walgreens’ tax controversy process. Alan received his JD from the Chicago-Kent College of Law and his BS in finance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
