Based in Hong Kong, Bob has lived and worked in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong for over 20 years and is one of the foremost advisors and practitioners of China-related M&A. Prior to founding DRP Capital in 2009, Bob was Head of China M&A for the Global Investment Banking Division of HSBC. Before joining HSBC in 2004, Bob worked for seven years as a senior banker at China International Capital Corporation Limited (CICC) when it was a joint venture of Morgan Stanley and the leading local investment bank in China. While at CICC, Bob was responsible for M&A and led most of the firm’s M&A transactions. Bob has advised leading global multinationals such as Philips, Alcatel-Lucent, II-VI, Emerson, Pirelli, Bunge, and Unilever on M&A in China and has led cross-border M&A transactions for major Chinese enterprises such as Han’s Laser and Wego. Earlier in his career, Bob also worked on some of China’s most significant IPOs and equity placements including the US$2.7 billion IPO of Petrochina, the US$458 million IPO of Aluminum Corporation of China (Chalco), the US$948 million IPO of Baosteel (China’s largest A share IPO on record at the time of listing), and China Mobile’s US$750m equity placement to Vodafone. Bob holds JD and MSFS degrees from Georgetown University and a BA from Columbia University.
