Michael J. Brunelle is a Managing Director of Diamond Capital Advisors and specializes in health care and biotechnology companies. Michael’s entire career has been focused on the health care sector as an investment banker, entrepreneur and mergers and acquisitions specialist for private and publicly traded pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. Prior to joining Diamond, Michael held the position of Vice President for Acquisitions and Development for Nantworks and its formerly affiliated companies – Celgene, Abraxis Bioscience, American Bioscience and American Pharmaceutical Partners. He completed numerous transactions with Watson Pharmaceuticals, Valeant Pharmaceuticals and Pfizer on behalf of the company. He was instrumental in developing and managing the company’s international heparin and biologics businesses and was involved in the acquisition of numerous health care, biotechnology, pharmaceutical manufacturing, real estate and data center assets. As a health care entrepreneur, Michael founded Pharm Plus Resources, a southern California distributor of specialty pharmaceuticals and intravenous medications, including providing highly skilled nursing services. The company initially targeted the HIV/AIDS market and expanded its product line to include oncology, growth hormone, hemophilia and specialty injectable’s. He sold Pharm Plus to US Bioservices, an Amerisource Bergen affiliate. At Dillon, Read & Co. Inc., Michael was a Vice President in the health care investment banking group and completed in excess of $2.0 billion of transactions for large multi-hospital systems, academic health centers, financially distressed institutions and long-term care facilities. He began his health care career as a hospital consultant for American Medical International (now Tenet Health Care). Michael has an MBA in Finance from The Wharton School and a BA from the University of California at San Diego. Michael enjoys managing the family business (four adult children!), losing golf balls and chasing his run away Airedale terrier. Michael is also very involved with a number of Los Angeles food banks and charities that feed the homeless.
