Mervyn Metcalf Bio

Mervyn has 30 years of investment banking experience having commenced his career in the City of London in 1994. Since then, Mervyn has completed numerous transactions, many of which he originated, in all fields of investment banking advisory (M&A, equity and debt). Mervyn has executed transactions across most industry verticals within the UK market. Mervyn commenced his career at BZW and subsequently joined Merrill Lynch in 1998, where he spent almost 11 years, latterly as a Managing Director. In late 2008, Mervyn joined Global Leisure Partners as head of the London office. In 2012, Mervyn co-founded Dean Street Advisers. With a passion for the advisory business, he cares about creating real and propriety situations for his client base of corporates and private equity alike, coupled with providing clear and independent advice. Mervyn is actively involved in every Dean Street mandate. Mervyn is very engaged in the art world. He is on the Board of Trustees at the Holburne Museum, whose vision is inspiration through the relationship of art, creativity and social and personal wellbeing. Mervyn is also a Trustee to the Board of The Discerning Eye, an educational charity, established in the UK in 1990, to encourage a wider understanding and appreciation of the visual arts and to stimulate debate about the place and purpose of art in our society, and the contribution each one of us can make to its development. In addition, Mervyn is an avid collector of contemporary art, with a particular focus on portraiture. Mervyn also sits on the BBC Media Action Fundraising Board, one of only two BBC charities, currently providing independent media to over 100 million people across 24 countries annually, helping save lives, improve health and protect livelihoods. Mervyn was born in Zimbabwe and moved to the UK in 1979. As an alumnus of London School of Economics Mervyn has both a Bachelors and a Masters degree in Economics. Mervyn’s opinions on financial market trends are often quoted in leading publications.
