Steve Van Kouteren is a Senior Sector Specialist in the Advanced Industrials and Materials practices at Daybreak Capital Partners. Mr. Van Kouteren is also a Principal with Principia Partners, a marketing consulting firm specializing in materials and related manufactured goods, including chemicals, plastics, metals and minerals, construction materials and building products. Mr. Van Kouteren has worked in the industrial and building & construction materials industries for over 30 years. Over the past 15 years, he has been working with companies in developing business strategies, including go-to-market, product and market positioning, distribution channel and acquisition strategies for building and forest products, construction materials and specialty chemical companies. In the advanced industrials sector, Mr. Van Kouteren’s experience includes energy and power generation and environmental and filtration. Other experiences include business strategy development for a laser-based, non-contact, dimensional measurement systems for manufacturing quality control. Industry subsector experience includes raw materials management, geology, business planning and strategic marketing roles with such companies as Newmont Mining and Essroc Cement. At Essroc, Steve was responsible for developing the company’s sales and marketing business plan, including sales and demand forecasts, market share analysis and niche market strategy development. Steve has an MS in Mineral Economics from the University of Arizona and a BS in Geology Geochemistry from Pennsylvania State University.
