Bio

Jim Woodward is a Sector Specialist in the Healthcare practice at Daybreak Capital Partners. Mr. Woodward is also a Principal at TCG, a business development and interim management consulting firm specializing in medical devices, diagnostics and biotechnology. Mr. Woodward has spent over 40 years in life sciences primarily in early-stage, emerging growth medical device, diagnostic and healthcare service companies. He has also during his career served as a strategy consultant with a leading international consulting firm (McKinsey & Co) as well as in a firm focused on life science and medical device commercialization strategy (Technology Commercialization Group, “TCG Medtech”). Mr. Woodward has operational experience in general management, finance and accounting, M&A/licensing, and product development strategy. During the past 3 years while a Partner of TCG . Immediately, prior to joining TCG, he was President and CEO of Encelle Inc., a venture-backed developer of tissue-regenerative biopolymers, acquired by Pioneer Surgical Technology (now part of RTI Surgical). Concurrent with his early consulting work with Encelle, Mr. Woodward was a Co-founder, Director, and CFO of Accordant Health Services, a disease management company which was acquired by Caremark and later by CVS. Mr. Woodward also served as President and CEO of Cardiometrics during its early product development and commercialization phase, during which he was co-inventor of the FloWire, the only doppler guide wire that provides direct measurement of intracoronary flow. After its public offering, Cardiometrics went through a series of acquisitions and was ultimately acquired by Philips N.V. Earlier in his career, Mr. Woodward was CFO and Director of Advanced Cardiovascular Systems, Inc. (acquired by Eli Lilly, now Abbott Vascular), the first medical device company to achieve $100 in annual sales in less than 5 years from first product launch. After leaving ACS he played a key management role in the start-up phase of Interventional Technologies (acquired by Boston Scientific) and Ventana Medical Systems (acquired by Roche), serving as co-founder and director of each. Mr. Woodward served as an Officer in the U.S. Navy on the fast attack nuclear submarine USS Tautog (SSN 639). He was awarded a Navy Unit Commendation, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Naval Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and CINCPACFLT Letter of Commendation. He holds an A.B. in Economics from Princeton University and an M.B.A. from Stanford University, Graduate School of Business.
