Bio

Gene Katz is the co-head of the firm’s Midwestern bank & thrift (FIG) practice. In this capacity, he is actively involved in providing strategic advice to Boards and management teams including structuring and negotiating mergers and acquisitions, FDIC transactions, fairness opinions, divestitures, and public and private offerings for financial services companies. In addition to his coverage of Central U.S. financial institutions, Gene is actively involved on a nationwide basis in advising MDIs, CDFIs, banks focused on serving ethnic and minority communities, and foreign financial institutions with depository operations in U.S. Prior to joining D.A. Davidson, he spent 15 years as a managing director at Hovde Financial, a nationally-recognized investment banking firm focusing on financial institutions. In his career, he has been involved in numerous transactions with aggregate deal value in the billions of dollars and a client base spanning from community banks to regional banks and to international money center financial institutions. Gene is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and has been quoted in numerous publications. He had previously served as a Director of CenTrust Bank, Lifeway Foods, Inc. (Nasdaq: LWAY) and MRL Industries, Inc. Gene holds a bachelor’s degree in finance and investments from Babson College.
