Matt Cooney Bio

Matt Cooney is the Chief Operating Officer of Equity Capital Markets, where he leads execution of the group’s primary initiatives and overall strategy. Matt joined D.A. Davidson in 2017 and prior to his current role was an investment banker in the group’s Consumer team. Matt has experience executing a range of investment banking transactions, including sell-side and buy-side M&A, debt and equity financing, and other strategic advisory engagements. He has worked with leading public and private companies in the Consumer and Services sectors, private equity firms, and founder-owned businesses. Before joining D.A. Davidson, he was an associate at J.P. Morgan and Wunderlich Securities, focusing on M&A and capital raising transactions. Prior to his career in finance, Matt served as an officer in the Marine Corps for nearly 10 years. Matt earned an MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the United States Naval Academy.
