Robert King has spent the last 30 years providing strategic, transaction, and valuation advice to U.S., European, Latin American, and Asian corporations, financial sponsors, and entrepreneurs. For most of his career, he has pursued analytical and transactional work at the intersection of strategy and valuation, with an emphasis on the valuation and commercialization of intellectual property in the medical technology and device, and life sciences industries. He has held senior positions at several U.S. and European investment banks and venture capital firms. Mr. King has worked on or led 150+ M&A advisory and capital raising mandates and has been engaged on 250+ independent price verification and consulting assignments focused on the valuation and monetization of intellectual property in the life sciences and medical technology industries as well as for firms across a range of other sectors, most notably in technology, social media, and industrial. Mr. King has provided expert analysis and testimony for a variety of transactional, regulatory, tax, accounting, and fiduciary purposes. Between 1987 and 2006, Mr. King worked as an analyst, associate, vice president, and managing director for several sell- and buy-side firms in San Francisco, New York, and London. Prior to his tenure at Crewe, he was the founder and managing partner of Five Prime Advisors, a New York-based M&A, strategic advisory, and valuation firm which focused on the life sciences and medical technology industries. In 2015, Five Prime Advisors merged with Crewe, with Crewe assuming its broker-dealer operation and FINRA membership. Since 2015, Robert has been a Partner and Head of Healthcare Investment Banking and Valuation Services at Crewe. Previous to Five Prime Advisors, Mr. King was a Managing Director, Partner, and Head of Healthcare Investment Banking, at the Maxim Group in New York. He is a member of The Economic Club of New York, the CFA Institute, CFA Society New York, the American Economic Association, and is an associate valuation member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Mr. King sits on the Board of Directors of ServeHAITI, Inc., a non-governmental organization providing medical care, economic development planning, and microfinance resources in Southeast Haiti. Mr. King has completed Ph.D. coursework in Economics at the University of California. He holds an M.A. in Economics from the University of San Francisco, where he was subsequently a lecturer in Economics, Finance and Statistics, a B.A. in Biology from the University of California, Santa Cruz, where he was a Regents of the University of California Research Fellowship recipient, and a B.A, in Spanish Literature from Creighton University, where he was a Jesuit Humanities Scholar. After high school, he spent several years as a member of the Society of Jesus (the “Jesuits”) in studies for the Roman Catholic priesthood.
