Bio

With over 20 years as an investment banker, advisor, entrepreneur and investor, Joe brings broad, in-depth experience that is greatly valued by clients, as well as their other advisors, in the pursuit of corporate goals. Joe advises business owners, Boards and other stakeholders in the context of debt and equity financings, buy-side and sell-side Mergers and Acquisitions, growth initiatives, valuation, exit/succession planning as well as restructurings and workouts for troubled companies. Clients have run across many industries including manufacturing, multi-unit retail, transportation/logistics, distribution, direct marketing, energy, technology, business services and consumer products. They have ranged in size from start-up to publicly traded companies, but are generally companies with revenues between $25-300 million that are owned by private equity groups, multi-generational family businesses and/or entrepreneurial/founder run businesses. In all facets of a client engagement, Joe's primary goal is to act as a most trusted advisor and resource to his clients in the furtherance of their goals and objectives. He brings great skills in strategy, negotiations, analytics and perseverance, as well as a strong business network. Prior to joining Corporate Finance Associates, Joe founded The Spectrum Capital Group, LLC in 1996, an investment and merchant banking firm with a national practice. Spectrum completed dozens of transactions, restructurings and advisory engagements over the years and also completed several highly successful principal investments. In 2009, Joe and his partner sold Spectrum to Morgan Keegan & Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Regions Financial (NYSE:RF) to form their Special Situations Group. After 3 successful years, Regions Financial sold Morgan Keegan & Company, Inc. to Raymond James Financial. This sale allowed Joe and his partners to successfully spin-out as an independent firm in 2012. Before forming The Spectrum Capital Group, Joe was a Vice President at Fulcrum Capital Advisors LP, an investment bank serving consumer products companies. Joe was the Director of Corporate Development and Treasurer for a rapidly growing direct marketer and manufacturer of children's clothing, taking the company from $12 million to over $100 million is revenues in 4 years, which ultimately became the largest direct marketer of children's clothing in the US. Early in his career, Joe was a CPA with Arthur Andersen & Company in New York City, and a financial associate at Merrill Lynch in New York City. In addition to his general investment banking practice, Joe focuses on merchant banking opportunities making direct investments in companies were he can provide valuable expertise or experience.
