Allen has been involved his entire business career (since 1980) in the business forms/documents segment of the printing industry. He joined Datatel Resources Corporation based in Monaca (Pittsburgh), PA in 1982 initially as Vice President of Marketing and developed the company's national presence as a trade manufacturer for long run forms products. In 1993, Allen was appointed President of Datatel. He transitioned Datatel from a traditional forms manufacturer to a specialized producer of jumbo rolls and cut sheets for laser and ink jet imaging. As an active Member of the Print Services Distribution Association (PSDA), Allen served on the Board of Directors of the Document Management Industries Association (DMIA) from 1995-1999, being named Manufacturer Vice President of DMIA in 1998. Additionally, Allen was awarded "Forms Pro of the Year" in 1996 by a leading industry publication. In October 2017, Allen oversaw the sale of Datatel to Wise Business Forms. In January of 2021, Allen joined Corporate Development Associates as an Associate. In December of 2023, Allen was named Managing Director of CDA's Pittsburgh, PA office.
