Tony Kim has spent his 20 year career focused on strategic advice and M&A across a broad range of sectors, including consumer products, retail, industrials, media, technology and financial institutions. He has executed over $500 billion in transactions over the course of his career. Recent transactions include advising General Electric on its $35 billion exit of GE Capital, Kraft on its $58 billion merger with Heinz, Big Heart Pet Brands on its $6 billion sale to The J.M. Smucker Company, General Electric on its $14 billion acquisition of Alstom and Alliance Boots on its $30 billion two-step sale to Walgreens. Other transactions include advising Altria on its $113 billion spin-off of Philip Morris International, its $62 billion spin-off of Kraft Foods and its $12 billion acquisition of UST; InBev on its $52 billion acquisition of Anheuser-Busch; Kraft Foods on its $30 billion spin-off of its North American grocery business, its $22 billion acquisition of Cadbury and its $19 billion acquisition of Nabisco; General Electric on its $18 billion sale of NBC Universal to Comcast; CSX on its $10 billion acquisition of Conrail; News Corporation on its $6 billion acquisition of Dow Jones; and J.C. Penney on its defense against shareholder activists. Mr. Kim also advised Kraft Foods on its sales of its DiGiorno pizza business to Nestlé and Post cereals to Ralcorp; Altria on its acquisitions of John Middleton and Green Smoke; Maple Leaf Foods on its sale to Grupo Bimbo; Jo-Ann Stores on its sale to Leonard Green & Partners; Bon Ton Stores on its acquisition of Elder Beerman; Tommy Hilfiger on its acquisition of Pepe Jeans; Peapod on its sale to Royal Ahold; Rykoff Sexton on its merger with JP Foodservice, creating US Foodservice; Premium Standard Farms on its sale to Smithfield Foods; and Alcatel on its acquisition of IBM’s call center software business. Mr. Kim has been profiled in business publications including the New York Times and Dealmaker Magazine. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Kim worked for 10 years at Lazard and Wasserstein Perella & Co. Mr. Kim holds a B.S. and B.A. from The Wharton School and the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Pennsylvania.
