Bio

Mr. AuWerter has over 30 years of experience providing turnaround and interim management services to financially distressed companies. He has hands-on experience as a member of management, as well as serving as an advisor to companies, Boards of Directors, lenders and investors. Mr. AuWerter has successfully developed and implemented business plans and, as an advisor, worked with management on strategic planning, turnarounds, refinancing of debt obligations, and the implementation of recommendations to create profitability. Mr. AuWerter has provided turnaround, crisis management and general advisory services in numerous industries, including Automotive, Aerospace, Transportation, Metal Fabrication, Consumer Packaging, Consumer Products, several segments of Healthcare, Food Processing, Paper and Electronics, among others. He has also provided services in the public sector and for some non-profit organizations. Prior to joining Carl Marks Advisors, Mr. AuWerter was CFO and then SVP Operations for Invacare Corporation, a $1.2 billion manufacturer of home medical equipment. Prior to that, he was a management consultant with Booz Allen & Hamilton, which included a major engagement with the senior management of Chrysler Corporation during their turnaround in the early 1980’s. Mr. AuWerter began his career with Ford Motor, first as a Truck Product Analyst, then on the staff of the President of Ford North America, then as a Car Product Planning manager. Mr. AuWerter holds BS in Industrial Engineering from Lafayette College, an MBA from the University of Michigan, and is a Certified Turnaround Professional (CTP).
