Paul Hopper is Head of the Australia Desk and the Life Sciences Desk at Cappello. Paul Hopper was previously the firm’s Australian representative based in Sydney until 2004. He has over 20 years experience in international public company markets with sector experience including biotechnology, financial services, nutraceuticals, specialty retail, mining, telecommunications, medical & healthcare services and e-commerce, with a focus on start-up and rapid growth companies. His experience includes IPOs, public company mergers and extensive capital markets experience in both debt and equity raisings. Paul has served as either Chairman, non-executive director or CEO, of over twelve public companies in the US, Asia and Australia, including sub-committee roles for audit, governance, remuneration and nomination. Paul was previously CEO of Australian Cancer Technology Limited (ASX:ACU), Chairman of Innovate Oncology, Inc, Director of Advanced Biotherapy, Inc, co-founder and CEO of Alpha Healthcare Limited and Director of Medaire Inc (ASX:MDE). He is a Board member of the American Australian Association and is a member of the Queensland North American Biotechnology Advisory Council. A clear communicator and public speaker, Paul has a detailed working knowledge of corporate governance, and hands-on experience managing diverse stakeholders’ interests at Board level in both for-profit, and not-for-profit, enterprises including as a Director of the Australian Private Hospitals Association, the Chairman of the Singapore based Your Health Group, the Chairman of the Sydney Chapter of the international Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO) in 1999-2000, and Chairman of the leading Sydney private girls’ school, SCEGGS Darlinghurst Limited.
