Matthew J. Bruderman is Chairman of Bruderman Brothers, LLC, and Bruderman Asset Management, LLC. He leads all of the firm’s merchant and investment banking activities and takes great pride in being personally involved in each transaction undertaken by the firm. Mr. Bruderman has been active in financial services for more 30 years, and his family's investment business dates back to 1879 in Belgium. He is one of only five individuals to lead the firm since its founding. Early in his career he held positions in sales, investment and merchant banking, financial planning, and investment management at T.R. Winston & Company, Shearson Lehman, and Merrill Lynch. As a merchant banking and private equity investor, Mr. Bruderman has acquired and sold businesses ranging from $1-300 million in enterprise value. He has often been the majority shareholder of these portfolio companies, and he has served as chairman and chief executive of many of them, directly overseeing more than 1,000 employees at one time. As part of his experience as a merchant banker, Mr. Bruderman has worked with major lending institutions, managed payroll and debt obligations, and owned factories, manufacturing facilities, and retail stores. Additionally, Mr. Bruderman has founded businesses in such diverse sectors as finance, retail, consumer products, apparel, healthcare, and media. As an investment banker, Mr. Bruderman has advised on transactions as large as $1 billion across North America, Europe, and Asia. He has managed transactions in finance, consumer products, healthcare, technology, communications, apparel, aerospace, chemicals, energy, trucking, logistics and distribution, manufacturing, automotive, agriculture, real estate, and others. Mr. Bruderman is an active philanthropist who acts as a trustee for several not-for-profit institutions. He has represented, worked for, owned, and operated many family businesses and sits on various public and private boards. He leads his family’s businesses, family office, and charitable foundations.
