Adam Helfant is an accomplished executive with extensive international sports and sports business experience. Prior to co-founding Bevilacqua Helfant Ventures in 2012, Helfant was Executive Chairman and President of the ATP, the governing body of the men's professional tennis circuit, which comprises 62 tournaments in 32 countries. Helfant left the ATP at the end of 2011 with its business stronger than ever from both an overall Tour revenue and profitability standpoint. During his three-year tenure, despite the very difficult economic times, governing body commercial revenue grew roughly 80%, providing the ATP with a firm financial foundation for future growth. Another impressive accomplishment under Helfant's leadership was in the area of calendar reform. Overcoming issues that had seemed insurmountable in the past, Helfant spearheaded an effort to reform the ATP's sporting calendar, which resulted in the lengthening of the ATP's off-season starting in 2012 to allow players with much needed additional time to rest, work on their fitness and work on their games. Helfant spent 12 years at NIKE before joining the ATP, holding a number of senior management positions, including Corporate Vice President of Global Sports Marketing, where he was responsible for NIKE's relationships and contracts with athletes, clubs, teams, universities and sports governing bodies throughout the world. Helfant drove the development and implementation of NIKE's strategic plan for acquiring and retaining sports marketing assets across all sports and geographies in support of its business and brand objectives. In the process, he built a reputation as a consummate deal-maker -- negotiating contracts for over $1 billion in the aggregate -- and developed an extensive network of sports and sports business relationships. Prior to his time at NIKE, Helfant served as an attorney for NHL Enterprises, the commercial arm of the National Hockey League, and before that was in private practice at the international law firm Cleary Gottlieb. Helfant is a graduate of MIT and Harvard Law School.
