John Patek has worked on behalf of middle market companies, their private owners and related families for 25 years, with experience in both capital raising and mergers & acquisitions. Prior to joining Bentley in early 2010, he was a Managing Director with the CAPITAL STRATEGIES GROUP of Citi Smith Barney, and its successor Morgan Stanley Smith Barney. Previously, Mr. Patek was a founding partner of SHATTUCK HAMMOND PARTNERS LLC, a boutique investment banking firm that bought out the advisory business of PRICEWATERHOUSECOOPERS, where Mr. Patek had been a Managing Director (partner equivalent). Earlier he was a Managing Director in the capital raising group of BANK OF AMERICA SECURITIES, and began his banking career in the Capital Markets Group of THE FIRST NATIONAL BANK OF CHICAGO (a predecessor to JP Morgan Securities) where his transaction work involved a diverse group of large domestic and international clients. In the past he has served on the Board of Advisors to Georgetown College, the Board of Trustees of the Sacred Heart Academy in Chicago, and the Board of Trustees for Georgetown’s Baker Scholar Program. Mr. Patek graduated with a B.A. degree at GEORGETOWN UNIVERSITY, and he earned his M.B.A. from THE BOOTH SCHOOL at the UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO.
