Bio

James Castro leverages his diversified professional background—spanning M&A, healthcare strategy, and corporate development—to partner with healthcare companies advancing the optimization of our healthcare system. Technology implementation, clinical integration, care coordination, and alternative reimbursement models are central towards Bailey’s differentiated healthcare M&A practice. Prior to joining Bailey & Company, Mr. Castro was a Senior Managing Director at B. Riley Securities where he led M&A and structured capital transactions within multiple healthcare service sectors including Behavioral Health (e.g., Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, psychiatric care, Acute Psychiatric Hospitals, Substance Use Disorder, and virtual mental health), dental services (general dentistry, orthodontics, airway, ENT, and sleep health), physician practice management, outsourced pharmaceutical services, and managed care. Previously, Mr. Castro was an EVP, Strategy and Corporate Development for a specialized orthopedic care organization where he helped develop a case management platform leveraging a proprietary provider network. Thereafter he joined a full-service reproductive care practice (i.e., medical practice, assisted reproductive technologies, cryo-storage, and surgery center) to develop scalable growth strategies that leveraged third-party affiliates. He began his corporate finance career as an investment banker with Houlihan Lokey and its affiliated private equity division, Century Park Capital Partners. Mr. Castro received a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the UCLA, master’s degree in Healthcare Leadership (Healthcare Policy & Management) from Brown University, and master’s degree in Global Healthcare from Oxford University (Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences in partnership with Saïd Business School). James is a founding member of the Centre for Global Healthcare Leadership (“CGHL”), an organization facilitating private investment into low- and middle-income countries to fund global health initiatives. He is also a board member of the Brown University Alumni Association.
