Mr. Schlaack focuses on on new business originations and capital markets advisory services to private equity funds, independent sponsors, and businesses in the lower/middle-market. Prior to Backbone, Mr. Schlaack was CFO for two private equity-sponsored investments in the CPG industry: Tillamook Country Smoker, a leading provider of branded meat snacks, and Century Snacks, a leading distributor of branded and private label salty snacks. Before his time as a CFO, Mr. Schlaack was a Vice President with Transom Capital Group, a Los Angeles-based private equity fund, where he focused on distressed and special situations transactions in consumer-facing industries. Mr. Schlaack holds a B.A. Degree in Political Science from Northwestern University and an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management.
