He focuses on working with early stage startups in the healthcare field. He is the co-founder of "US-Japan Medtech Frontiers," which is now operating as "US-Japan Healthcare Connection" under the umbrella of Japan Society Northern California. Prior to joining AZCA, he held a number of senior management positions, including Director of Engineering at Fairchild Test Systems, President of Nanometrics (publicly traded company), and CEO of Microbar (business turnaround). He has co-founded six startups, including medical device companies Cardiac Mariners and Vivant Medical, and holds 14 U.S. patents. He holds a BS in Engineering from the University of Illinois Masters Sloan Program at the Stanford University Business School
