Bio

David C. Mongeau is Chairman and founder of Avington. David is an international investment banker with extensive experience advising and assisting leading corporations, private equity firms, dynastic family offices, and pension funds in identifying strategic, high-quality investments in sectors of focus and implement successful investment programs. David is a frequent speaker at international industry conferences and until 2009 was Vice Chairman of the World Travel and Tourism Council, the international association representing the leisure and hospitality industries. David was nominated as Investment Banker of the Year at the 2004 Americas Lodging Investment Summit in Los Angeles, California. Prior to establishing the Avington Group in 2005, Mr Mongeau was Vice-Chairman of CIBC World Markets and Global Head of its M&A and Hospitality groups. Prior to joining CIBC Wood Gundy in 1993, David spent seven years at Four Seasons Hotels as Senior Vice President and Executive Vice President, where he negotiated and implemented the acquisition of over 30 hotels and management agreements. David also led the acquisition of Regent Hotels and was the company’s representative on the board of FRI Corp, the US$2.0 billion property vehicle formed with Long Term Credit Bank of Japan. Before joining Four Seasons, Mr Mongeau practised corporate securities law at Goodmans in Toronto and Baker & McKenzie in Toronto and NYC. Mr Mongeau completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Toronto, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and obtained his law degree from the University of Western Ontario.
