Stephen Humphreys is a Managing Director at Alexander Hutton. Stephen brings over 25 years of experience to the team and has held executive and senior management positions in a variety of industries, including business services, manufacturing, financial services, retail, and technology. Complementing his deep operational background, Stephen has significant investment and M&A experience gained throughout his career including actively managing a $100 million private equity investment portfolio of both direct investments and private equity/venture capital funds. Stephen’s combination of M&A experience, operational focus and investment knowledge provides a truly unique perspective in partnering with private company founders, owners, and management teams. Prior to joining Alexander Hutton, Stephen was President and CEO and Board Member for Ellipse Global where he built one of the largest disaster services companies in North America through a combination of organic growth and strategic acquisitions. During his tenure he grew the company from $5 million to over $50 million while significantly increasing performance and profitability. Previously, as President and CEO and Board Member for OutBack Power Technologies, Stephen led the successful turnaround and sale of a $25 million global power electronics manufacturing company where he restructured the organization to drive profitability and focus efforts on core business operations, including divesting an underperforming operating division and winding down a foreign subsidiary. Prior to OutBack Power, Stephen held various executive management positions at Washington Mutual including Division Finance Officer for WaMu’s Retail Bank operation and Vice President of Corporate Development and Strategy and member of the WM Strategic Capital Fund where he was involved in a number of investments, mergers, and acquisitions, including the divestiture of a $1.2 billion consumer financing division. Earlier in his career, Stephen served as an executive team member managing a dynamic private equity/venture capital portfolio for a Pacific Northwest family office. Stephen holds an MBA from the University of Washington and a BBA in International Business from the University of Hawaii. Stephen has lived in the Greater Seattle area for 24 years and currently resides in Kirkland with his wife, Amy.
