Bio

David has over 20 years of experience in the Telecoms, Media and Technology sectors. Prior to joining Akira Partners he was Head of Telecoms Investment Banking for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region at Credit Suisse. David has advised on M&A transactions with over US$20bn in value in aggregate and on debt and equity financing transactions of over US$35bn in value during his career to date. David started working with TMT companies in the corporate finance team at Panmure Gordon in 1993 before joining Credit Suisse in 1997 where he first worked in Equity Capital Markets before joining the TMT team in 2002. As part of Credit Suisse’s team he led Emerging Markets coverage before becoming Head of Telecoms Investment Banking for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region in 2010. He joined Akira Partners in 2013. David has worked on a broad range of transactions in the telecoms sector including M&A and IPO privatisation transactions for Cesky Telecom and Egypt Telecom, the disposal of Golden Telecom to Vimpelcom, the acquisition of Indosat by Ooredoo, the IPOs of Megafon, K-Cell and Sistema, the sale of a strategic stake in Asiacell to Q-Tel, the acquisition of a controlling stake in Comstar by MTS, the merger of Vimpelcom and Weather Investments, the acquisition of Synterra by Megafon, equity sell-downs by Swisscom and KPN of a strategic stake in Cesky Telecom, debut High Yield bond offering and equity rights offering for Orascom Telecom, strategic bank and High Yield debt re­financing by Wind and acquisition financing for MTC’s acquisition of Celtel and for Orascom’s acquisition of a strategic stake in HTIL. Since joining Akira David has advised sub-Saharan mobile operators on sale and in-market consolidation transactions, worked with a financial investor on a significant investment in a major South American telecoms asset, worked in the Eurasian region for financial investors on buy-side and sell-side projects for market-leading mobile, fi­xed line and pay-TV businesses, and on a competitive spectrum sale in the UK for a global technology company. David graduated in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from the University of Oxford.
