Bio

Mr. Rappaport is Director of Research at OEP which he joined in 2009. In this capacity, he produces new business development ideas for initial investments, portfolio companies, and company combinations which serve as a unique deal sourcing platform for the firm. Previously, Mr. Rappaport was a Senior Vice President at Lazard Frères & Co. and at Prudential Securities, Inc. where he was a member of the firm’s Financial Risk Management Committee. During his time in the industry, he was involved in over $50 billion in public and corporate securities deals. He was also Director of Research in various securities sectors where he developed quantitative corporate screening techniques and algorithms for the risk management of portfolios based on specified investment models, some of which were adapted from electrical engineering and artificial intelligence techniques. Throughout his career, he interfaced with all types of institutional and private investors, providing a wide perspective on the investment needs and challenges facing Limited Partners. Mr. Rappaport received his B.A., Phi Beta Kappa and magna cum laude from Colby College and received an M.A. and an M.Phil. from Columbia University as a President’s Fellow. He received an Executive Certificate in Management and Technology from the Sloan School of Management at M.I.T., was a Wood Fellow in Finance at the New York University Graduate School of Business, and was a member of the executive program in Investment Decisions and Behavioral Finance at Harvard University. While working in the securities industry, he authored five books on finance, corporate management, and investing, which were the first in their fields and were published by McGraw-Hill, Dow Jones, and Simon & Schuster. His management book was translated into Japanese. Mr. Rappaport has been a Visiting Fellow at the Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging, a joint center of Harvard Medical School, M.I.T., and Massachusetts General Hospital; a Fellow in Neuroimaging and Decision Sciences at Columbia Medical School where he was also Director of Corporate and Private Research Partnerships in the Program for Neuroimaging and Cognitive Sciences, Department of Radiology; was a member of the Board of Associates of the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research which he advises; and is a founding member of the Society of Financial Econometrics under Nobel Laureate Robert Engle. He was also a Captain in the U.S. Air Force.
